Jane Austen is the author of the novel Pride and Prejudice. She was born in 1775 and grew up in a small Hampshire town in south-central England. Her father was a country minister. Several sources suggested the Austens showed strong family ties and read many novels together from the local library. She often described the family feeling in her numerous novels.
Jane Austen’s novels are characterized by lively intelligence and keen interest in human relationships. It is a narrow focus which gains intensity and beauty in her writings. There are a few classic works. Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion was widely recognized and highly acclaimed today. Among the novels, Pride and Prejudice is probably the most popular of Austen’s works. It was originally name First Impressions. The original version was first rejected by the publisher but the work was rewritten and eventually published in 1813.
The humorous novel Pride and Prejudice is famous for a steady emphasis on characters. The novel begins around Mrs. Bennet, who is anxious to have her five daughters marry well with a rich husband that can support the family. Thery are not from the upper class, and their house in Hartfordshire will be inherited by a distant cousin if Mr. Bennet dies. The novel reaches climax when Darcy shows arrogance and Elizabeth reveals prejudice against Darcy because of misunderstandings. And the novel concludes by a happy ending when the misunderstanding is cleared and both Darcy and Elizabeth love each other.
